The following projects demonstrate the range of work in our learning and participation programme.

  • Inspire – a workforce development programme for primary school teachers, part of Sing Up.
  • Andy Sheppard’s Saxophone Massive – mass participative project led by leading UK saxophonist Andy Sheppard.
  • Migration – bringing together artists and young people from secondary schools to explore migration through music.
  • Serious New Audiences – Serious’ award-winning audience development scheme.
  • Hugh Masekela & Jazz Jamaica All Stars – mass participative project originally produced to celebrate a decade of freedom in South Africa.
  • Napoleon Maddox IsWhat?! - enabling young people to explore music as an art form in participatory workshop settings with American hip-hop, beatboxer and vocalist Napoleon Maddox with his full band IsWhat?!
  • Interpret & Translate - providing artists working in African and Caribbean musics with the opportunity to explore traditional West African song and look creatively at how it can be translated and interpreted into a modern context and into different music genres.
