Professional Development for Artists
Serious is committed to providing professional development opportunities that enable young and emerging artists to reach their full potential.
We have developed two initiatives for emerging creative jazz composer/performers, Take Five, which is nationwide and Jazz CPD Scotland, a scheme for Scottish musicians that we launched last year.
This year we also produced Move On Up, a new professional development scheme for artists as part of the African and Caribbean touring network, Black Routes.
In addition to structured professional development initiatives, Serious acts as a conduit to more informal professional development. For example, young British musicians can learn and be stimulated by working with legendary international artists and our work in this area has provided an understanding of how best to initiate collaborations and artistic exchange.
